Saviour-V teleports in...

On a more serious note, however, there seems to be a number of forest fires occurring all over Peninsular Malaysia, courtesy of the dry weather. No casualties yet, fortunately, but still...it's been horribly dry off late, and somehow, I anticipated that something like this might happen.

Courtesy of our rapid development, we've dug our own graves. For those of you in Shah Alam, consider Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam / Bukit Cherakah. At one point, there used to be a lot of vegetation surrounding the general area of that nature park.

Saviour-V raises a hand to his forehead in a gesture of annoyance and disappointment, and shakes his head ruefully...

NOW, there's not enough trees left. They've been overdeveloping the surrounding area of that park so much that it's hardly the place I used to know, and I've got a number of people who can vouch for that.

As for the forest fires, apparently, they're caused by peat fires underground, which makes things more difficult. One false step on the soft earth above the burning peat will cause a firefighter to fall down to his doom.

Not forgetting that these kinds of fires are the hardest to extinguish; not only are these fires deep underground, they tend to last much longer than usual, given the abundant presence of burnable material, including the peat soil itself.

As of The Star's report today, approximately 8,600 hectares of land are affected - 7,880 hectares of which belong to Selangor - which largely means that we'll be seeing more hazy days ahead for a while.

To those who just blaze through with minimal concern for our environment, I only have this to say:

ARE YOU SATISFIED NOW?

Really, this whole thing could be avoided if we have a resourceful mentality, instead of a consumer mentality. Honestly.

Current Music: A random ambience track from Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within. Not exactly satisfying, but the game's OK. Albeit glitch-laden.
