Now HERE'S something worth blogging about.
About 10 minutes ago, a quake hit the area closest to northern Sumatra. Here's the URL:
The quake which hit the place, and KL, too.
I've some experience of it, for I happened to be in the bathroom at that exact time. Stomach upset.
Just when I felt me stomach heave for the umpteenth time, I felt everything quiver and shake. Initially, I thought it was MY movement, until I noticed that the towel on the towel-rack, and everything else in the bathroom, was shaking VIOLENTLY.
My reflexes were slow, but I got out and dressed. Then, when I went outside to the backyard, I noticed that some water had spilled out from one of our large water barrels, so it was definitely NOT my eyes playing tricks on me.
And I believe some of us felt it too...I hope that everyone else is OK.

Just getting a few job interview offers. Taking up what I can.
Apart from that, a few nights this week, I've been accompanying my Dad to the more remote reaches of Klang. Closer to the Banting area.
One of Dad's friends (more of an adopted son, actually,) lives there. He's OK, but his area isn't exactly safe to breathe in; there's an IMMENSE blanket of human smog, generated by the constant burning of vegetation from the oil palm estates in the area.
Practically every night when I go there with Dad, that accursed smog is still there. According to Wan (Dad's friend, as mentioned above), open burning is still frequently conducted here to clear the land for re-planting oil palms and the like.
And I thought that open burning was OUTLAWED by now. Looks like old habits die hard. Those guys are PRETTY IGNORANT about one thing: the haze.
We've had to fend off the haze on several occasions many years ago. One of the more recent cases, last year to be exact, pointed to Indonesia's own open-burning policies.
But I disagree. We shouldn't be pointing fingers at our neighbours for making our lives hellish. After all, for every finger pointed at someone, 3 fingers POINT BACK!
And IMHO, I believe the cause of the next haze will be from our own wrongdoings, and no one else's. Let's hope we come to our senses before it's too late...

Monday, March 7th, 2005:
Celebrated my birthday on that day. Got a large enough cake, and a huge meal to go with it. Sure, there may not have been many guests, but I was glad I could celebrate it with the family I hold dear.
Also, I found out that Gran might be more technologically savvy than any of us. Even with her Alzheimer's. I was in her house, when Mum showed up and asked Gran to turn on the fan, since her air-con remote was in the repair shack.
Being forgetful, as usual, Gran reached for her radio's remote. For her JVC radio. She then pointed it at her Panasonic air-con, and pressed a button.
The few seconds leading up to that last action had me going, "Poor Gran, she doesn't even realize that her remote's gone, and now she's using a different remote for the air-con. It'll NEVER work!"
The above statement was promptly shattered the very instant her air-con hummed into life! Now, that's quite unusual. Perhaps the idea of the "universal remote" is much closer than I thought.
OK, so this entry's kind of short, but don't worry, I'm working on lengthening it a bit.

Current Music: Apparition LE -Thousand Mix-, from the S.C.X. homepage. Look in the "Remix Songs" section.
Yes, I know the place is in Japanese, but it's where I got that track, so get a translation tool, and you should be OK.
